چکیده

The characteristics of composite rightand left-handed CRLH transmission lines periodically loaded with Schottky varactors are discussed in relation to the development of solitons. CRLH lines are highly dispersive and thus, when appropriately designed, compensate the effect of nonlinearity introduced by the Schottky varactors to support solitons. The reductive perturbation method applied to the transmission equation of nonlinear CRLH lines leads to the observation that the nonlinear Schrödinger equation governs the wave property at long wavelengths. The condition of the Schottky CRLH lines for the development of solitons, together with several results of the numerical finite-difference time-domain calculations, is discussed. © 2007 American Institute of Physics. Collision of Nonlinear Envelope Pulses Developed in Composite Right- and Left- Handed Transmission Lines Periodically Loaded with Schottky Varactors

We investigate numerically the collision of nonlinear envelope pulses in composite rightand left-handed transmission lines with regularly spaced Schottky varactors. Because of the nonlinearity caused by the Schottky varactors, the dispersive distortion of envelope pulses is well compensated. We find that when two nonlinear envelope pulses traveling in the opposite directions collide, two envelo...

Bright and Dark Soliton Generation in a Left-handed Nonlinear Transmission Line with Series Nonlinear Capacitors

In this article, we demonstrate that in the case of a positive group velocity left-handed nonlinear (LH-NL) transmission line with series nonlinear capacitances, the spatial derivative of the voltage distribution satisfies the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation. Consequently, it will shown that a LH-NL transmission line with series varactors can be used to generate both bright and dark solito...

Short envelope pulse propagation in composite right- and left-handed transmission lines with regularly spaced Schottky varactors

Composite rightand left-handed (CRLH) transmission lines with regularly spaced Schottky varactors are characterized for propagation of short envelope pulses. Due to strong dispersion, a short pulse cannot travel on a conventional CRLH line without distortion. This distortion is compensated for by the effects of Schottky varactors such that the line supports solitonic pulses, whose pulse width d...

Experimental Observation of Collisions of Nonlinear Envelope Pulses in Left-handed Transmission Lines Periodically Loaded with Schottky Varactors

We investigate experimentally the collisions of nonlinear envelope pulses in a left-handed transmission line with regularly spaced Schottky varactors. By measuring the test line, we successfully observed that when two nonlinear envelope pulses traveling in opposite directions collide, two new envelope pulses are developed. These new pulses satisfy the phase-matching condition, and their carrier...

Properties of Envelope Pulses Developed in Coupled Nonlinear Composite Right- and Left-handed Transmission Lines

We investigate the properties of nonlinear envelope pulses developed in a coupled composite rightand left-handed (CRLH) transmission line with regularly spaced Schottky varactors. It is found that the dispersive distortion of the envelope pulses carried by each mode is well compensated by nonlinearity introduced by the varactors. In addition, we numerically observe that the collision of two non...
